Meteor in Latvia - true or false?

We do not know for sure untill this moment the truth about Latvia meteor. Although local people insist is true, the scientiests have big doubts. The news spread quickly, but a scientist concluded that it was only ... "A simple, man-made hole with a [chemical] substance poured in..." (Andris Karpovics/ University of Latvia).

What chemical substance? Well, some aluminum and iron plus a little sulfur.

"Currently, it appears that it was not a meteorite..." - Ilgonis Vilkstold (astronomy specialist). The crater, is 10 meters wide and 2 meters deep. A military unit sent to the site found normal radiation levels. The crater is on a meadow and the owner of the land sells tickets to people who want to see the crater. Scientists from Latvia will conduct an investigation.

The heaviest meteorite is the Hoba Meteorite, found in Namibia (1920) - 66tons. But the meteorite left no crater, it seems it entered Earth's atmosphere at a long angle. Now is a Namibian national monument (see picture - click to enlarge).
